Opertura

Opertura is the collective unit of independent animators Aya Yamasaki and Jason Brown. They have collaborated for close to 20 years, making hand drawn animations, illustrations, installations and related creations. Their animations tell straightforward, playful stories and incorporate watercolor, organic patterns, miniature sets and video footage. Opertura has worked and collaborated with, among others, Juana Molina, Vice News, Hauschka, múm, and Yo Gabba Gabba. They were 2017 Massachusetts Cultural Council Artist Fellows and did a residency at the Studios at Mass MoCA in 2021.
