Clémentine Bal
Clémentine Bal is a French artist working in sculpture. She creates characters that reflect her inner world. Acknowledging a deep connection to childhood, her feelings, memories and projections materialise as multi-coloured mountains or volcanoes, semi-human creatures, little hybrid ghosts. With their simple, clean lines, her 3D works seem to have emerged directly from drawings, and sometimes exert a disconcerting naivety. Influenced by the worlds of Mark Ryden or Hayao Miyazaki and the books and comics of her youth, Clémentine likes to address the topics of family, children, friendship, animals and the strong bonds that influence our emotions. The lightness of the characters is a protective antidote to the fury of the world. Her works have been exhibited in Paris, Portland and Turin.
