Cristina Daura
After completing her illustration studies at the Maryland Institute Collage of Art (Baltimore, US), Cristina Daura moved back to Barcelona and spent several years hitting her head against a wall, crying, accepting horrible commissions, and hating everyone. Things changed the day she decided to concentrate solely on what she really liked: to illustrate and draw comics—her own way. Meanwhile she has exhibited in Barcelona, Bilbao, Paris, Lyon and Hamburg, and works for clients such as The New York Times, The New Yorker, Die Zeit, Süddeutsche Magazine, El País, Penguin Books, or Nike. She quotes comics, television and fauvism art as her biggest influences, while her work is referred to as a play between childish esthetics and the perversions of a mentally ill.
