Sophia Jansson

Sophia Jansson is the niece of Tove Jansson (1914-2001), the illustrator, writer, and artist who achieved worldwide fame as the creator of the Moomins, a family of white and roundish trolls with large snouts. Sophia is chairman of the board and creative director of Moomin Characters Ltd, managing and protecting the company’s rights and licenses to Tove’s heritage and the original Moomin artwork. She carefully selects and co-directs all projects involved with her aunt’s heritage, whether it be collaborations with artists in exhibitions, authors for new books, or animation filmmakers.
