PICTOFOLIO PRESENTS: THE PICTOPLASMA Talent Market

5 MAY, 20 – 22h/

CHARACTER
FORUM
SPEED PITCHING

A FAST-PACED NETWORKING EVENING
FOR THE TALENT OF TOMORROW
AND THE INDUSTRY LEADERS OF TODAY

PRESENT YOUR PERSONAL CHARACTER PROJECT OR PORTFOLIO TO INDUSTRY LEADING ANIMATION PRODUCERS, ART BUYERS, ILLUSTRATION AGENCIES OR PUBLISHERS…

The new Character Forum presents a fast-paced networking evening where conference attendees have the chance to present their personal character project or portfolio to industry-leading makers and shakers. From animation to illustration, advertising to publishing, toy to games, this is your chance to introduce your work to a selected group of producers, creative directors, agencies, art buyers and talent scouts.

How does it work?

More than 20 companies await the participating attendees at individual tables in the upper gallery for a total of six one-on-one speed pitching sessions. Every ten minutes, a new round starts, seats are re-shuffled and new talents present their portfolios and character based projects.
In order to book one of the available seven slots per company, you need to secure a ticket at the information booth on the ground floor of the Villa Elisabeth, starting from 8pm. It’s first come, first served!
It is part of the game that not everyone will end up presenting their work to the company of their dreams, but once you’ve seen the faces, feel free to approach them over the course of the next few days.

HOW TO PREPARE?

Familiarize yourself with the following list of participating companies. Study their bios, read their testimonials, try to figure out if you have something to offer them, or vice versa.
If you feel that some of them might be a good match for your style or character-related project, prepare some visual references and bring them along for the pitch. You’ll have 10 offline minutes to leave a lasting impression. It’s up to you to put together your material to make your general portfolio or special project shine*!

(*As a basic rule: less is more! If you have 6 – 12 simple printed references and use your time to talk them through your project / idea, that might make the most sense. Using a pdf on your smart phone is also an alternative. Keep it simple.)

PICTOFOLIO

Pictofolio.com is Pictoplasma’s new online Community for Contemporary Character Design and Art, entering BETA 2.0 for this year’s conference attendees: The registered artists, designers and illustrators of the event are personally invited to share their character creations and projects, tagged by mood, species and style.

Pictofolio enables the attendees to pre-meet new like-minded friends, stay in touch with old ones, hook up regionally, inspire each other, collaborate and show character.

In preparation of the Character Forum, the site will also serve as an advance research tool for attending producers, talent scouts and art buyers to browse the artwork of the showcased talents and make arrangements to meet up during the event for a first encounter.
