Duolingo is the most popular online learning platform—and famous for having an iconic Owl as a mascot. Derek Gieraltowski is a Senior Animator and gives the Owl its notorious mischief—dreaming up unhinged alter egos like a unicorn with a butthole, a lady in fishnets and a bra, or a sunglasses-wearing bird on fire. Shandy Tsai is a Senior Creative Producer who has shaped Duolingo’s app icons, widgets, streaks, and partnerships that keep learners coming back. She also co-founded the Asian Creative Foundation, connecting creatives with nonprofits across NYC.
