Frode Bolhuis is a Dutch sculptor known for his miniature figures crafted from polymer clay and mixed materials. In his ongoing project, The Daily Sculptures, he intuitively creates a new character nearly every day – playful, colourful personalities that merge ancient stories with his surreal imagination. In contrast to Frode’s earlier large-scale public commissions, working in miniature allows for immediacy and instinct and doesn’t require preliminary sketches. His works form intimate, self-contained worlds where texture, gesture and colour evoke expressive, almost mythic narratives.
