Saddo
Hailing from Bucharest, the artist and illustrator Saddo lists influences that range from the artists Rousseau, Matisse and Grayson Perry to Iranian miniatures, Asian carpets, Hip Hop and urban culture. And just like a Hip Hop producer, Saddo samples elements – from surreal imagery, portraits of rappers, luxury cars or brand logos – into his own intricate iconography. Saddo’s eclectic approach extends into his choice of media, which includes illustrations on paper, large canvases, murals, sculptures, ceramics and tapestries. Besides his commercial work, Saddo has been part of numerous group shows all over the world, had solo shows at BC Gallery in Berlin and Mobius Gallery in Bucharest, and painted murals from Montreal to Bangkok, Paris to Rabat.
