Fanny Brodar

Fanny Brodar is an artist originally from Oslo, Norway, now based in Maine. Her love of story writing and creating cartoonish figures started when she was a child. She later studied illustration at the Art Institute of Boston, and discovered a passion for comic and pop art as well as creating her own handwritten typeface, things that she incorporates in her works today. Fanny’s paintings lure the viewer into entering this pictured domain – an otherworldly and magical place, like her childhood bedroom that became whatever she wanted simply by thinking it up. She builds on the nostalgic associations of the audience, presenting monsters that resemble familiar characters from childhood, favourite films, and fashion. Recent exhibitions have taken place at Guy Hepner NYC, Caelis Galeria Shanghai and YKP Seoul.
