Viviane Schwarz

Viviane Schwarz is an author, illustrator and artist specialising in interactivity and encouragement of creativity. Based in London, she has written and illustrated more than a dozen books, mostly for children, and has been shortlisted twice for the CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal. She won the 2016 Little Rebels Award for I Am Henry Finch (with Alexis Deacon) and an IBBY Honour List nomination for illustration in 2018. Viviane also designs games and interactive museums, exhibiting and running games at international festivals. Her creative workshops for all ages and skill levels help people create their own board games, picture books and other inventions. Her practice led to the book Board Games to Design and Play (2019), co-authored with game designer Kevan Davis, introducing a technique to improvise board games together.
