En Iwamura is a fine artist primarily working with ceramics. He grew up in artistic environment as the son of two painters. His studio is in Shigaraki, one of the six major pottery centres of ancient Japan, and a perfect environment to execute large-scale pieces of the highest standard. Iwamura regards his work as “future archeology”, recognising how the historic medium of ceramics lasts longer than human life and crosses cultures, generations and nations. Drawing on the Japanese philosophy of Ma, which implies relation and meaning between distance, moment and space, the three-dimensional medium allows him to experiment with the viewer’s experience. En Iwamura is represented by Ross + Kramer New York and has exhibited in New York, Chicago, Miami, Brussels and Japan.
